Celine Dion raises more than $1 million for UNICEF's Tsunami Fund

LAS VEGAS: Celine Dion raised more than one (M) million dollars for the UNICEF's Tsunami Recovery Fund.
Dion donated the proceeds of a Mother's Day performance of her Las Vegas show, "A New Day."
The money will go toward relief and reconstruction efforts in the tsunami-affected region.
At the end of Sunday's show, Dion and Larry King, the event's host, presented UNICEF officials with a check.

In November 2003, DRAGONE co-produced an ambitious DVD project for A New Day... embracing a television Special and chart-topping live CD soundtrack giving fans an unbelievable souvenir from the show. The double disc DVD includes the entire performance plus 2 x 45 minute documentaries which will be released through Sony in the coming months.
Continuing this expansion further is the co-production with API Productions (a subsidiary of Centre France), and French/German broadcaster ARTE, of a 10x26 minute documentary series that follows the creative process of the aquatic show and the characters involved in the pursuit of their collective dream.
With its Head Office in La Louvière, Belgium; DRAGONE Productions USA in Las Vegas; and activities in Montreal and Paris, DRAGONE is a truly global enterprise providing permanent jobs to around seventy people at the Head Office and Costume Shop, and over a hundred and fifty artists, performers, support staff and collaborators.
It also states on the site that the Launch of the Celine Dion. A New Day television special and DVD package will be released sometime in 2005, it doesn't give the month.

Singing diva Celine Dion continues her perfumery project with beauty company Coty and will soon launch new fragrance. “Belong”, created by perfumer Christophe Raynaud, is described as a “refined and joyful” scent that includes red pepper berries, bergamot and pineapple, sherry baby orchid, crystal peony, cotton flower, and hinoki wood, which is used to build Buddhist temples in Asia.
The new perfume is created to appeal to a more youthful audience comparing to the star’s original scents. “We tried to make the concept more fresh and vibrant, and, therefore, a bit younger,” commented Eric Thoreux, president of Coty Beauty Americas, according to WWD. “The new fragrance reflects where Celine is right now in her life.”
The fragrance will be sold in a pentagon-shaped glass bottle with an engraved silver collar topped with a floating, silver cap. will be available this spring in midtier and specialty stores, such as J.C. Penney Co. Inc., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Kohl’s Corp. and Ulta, in a 0.5-oz. bottle for $20, a 1.7-oz. bottle for $35 and a 3.4-oz version for $48. “Belong” will also include two ancillary products, a shimmer powder in a puff for $16 and a body lotion for $12.50.
Black-and-white print campaign, photographed by Peter Lindbergh, will feature laughing 36-year-old Celine, sitting lazily on a director’s chair against the backdrop of an old-fashioned movie set, and tag line “Belong to the moment”. “The black-and-white photos play into the whole documentary style we wanted to portray of the real Celine,” said Marsha Brooks, vice president of new business development for Coty Beauty.

CBC to broadcast tsunami-relief concert

The CBC announced plans Friday to broadcast a benefit concert for the victims of the Dec. 26 tsunami in South Asia.
The event, dubbed Canada for Asia, will air Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. in every time zone, except in Newfoundland, where it will be seen half an hour later.
Lasting three hours, the show will feature performances by the likes of Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Rush, Blue Rodeo, Jann Arden, and Oscar Peterson.
The show will air on television on CBC, as well as CBC Radio One.
The public broadcaster is also offering the show as a simulcast to all other TV and radio outlets in Canada.

Canadian diva Celine Dion has revealed that after shooting for a bay book with celebrated photographer Anne Geddes, she really wants to have another baby and she is looking to produce a child of the frozen embryo that she and her husband have, tucked away in New York. The 'Drove All Night' singer says that after she completes all her current projects in Las Vegas, she will go back to New York and give that embryo a chance."We have a little embryo in New York that was produced at the same time as (our son) Rene Charles. I need to bring this baby to the sun. I have to give it a try," rate the music quoted her as saying."I have to go there after Vegas, I have to take a long break. I have to go back, put this baby in my belly and give this baby a chance," she added.

Some years ago, Jim Ryan recalls, he was program director of a radio station in Portland, Ore., and the station ran a contest offering listeners a chance to see a little-known teenage singer from Canada named Celine Dion. The contest winners were invited to a lunch where Dion sang live to a taped musical track. Only trouble was, a lot of the contest winners didn't bother to show up. "At that time, they probably just didn't know who she was," says Ryan. "But Celine sang flawlessly, beautifully, and I felt bad for her that more people weren't there to see it. On Friday, Ryan and Dion will meet again, when she headlines Lite's annual "One Night With Lite" concert at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. It's Dion's only North American concert this year outside Las Vegas, where she's in the middle of a three-year run. That is to say, this is a nice coup for Lite.

It's a safe bet that Celine Dion never really intended to go on a shoe-shopping spree with Eden Prairie's Mandy Gulbransen. Gulbransen won a fan-load of VIP prizes as Dion's millionth ticket buyer. The package included an audience with Dion in Las Vegas, where she is performing at Caesars Palace, a $1,000 shopping spree at Celine Dion Boutique and ,000 in chips. "She gave me advice on gambling," said Mandy. "Yes, she did! She told me to play red ..." Her husband, Jim Gulbransen, who was also in the room for our speaker-phone interview, conveyed Dion's advice from there. "Go to the roulette wheel. Put it on red. (Like the photos in the CD) Bad News: After an hour of waiting on Wed. the audience at Ceasars Palace was informed that Celine was in costume back stage, and was having problems breathing, and the show was canceled. No word about Thursday - Sunday's shows, yet. The remaining audience... got treated to a free showing of the "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" DVD. On the DVD Celine has blonde hair... and it includes EVERY SONG that Celine sang... Fashion designer Simon Chang has taken on a new challenge: designing the t-shirt for the new 2004 Breast Cancer Awareness month fundraising campaign to be launched this coming October.
